The Google Calendar connected to my Tunelark account and my teaching windows on my Settings page are both up to date, so the times I can actually teach are what students see as bookable.

Our policies

Our policies and procedures always live in the Instructor Handbook, linked in your Tunelark dashboard. It's important that you're up to date on all of it. Please review the Instructor Handbook first, then confirm your understanding of the most important and sometimes overlooked policies below.

I understand that trial lessons may not be canceled or rescheduled by me except in a true emergency. If my first lesson with a Tunelark-referred student cannot survive a change in my schedule, that is a calendar problem I am responsible for preventing: I will keep my Google Calendar current so times I cannot teach are never bookable. I understand that a non-emergency cancellation or reschedule of a trial lesson makes me ineligible to receive Tunelark-referred students for a minimum of 30 days, a second results in a 60-day suspension, and a third results in permanent removal from the Find-a-Teacher page.

I understand that late cancellations or reschedules on my part for non-emergency reasons are not acceptable, and that they affect my ability to receive Tunelark-referred students. If I cancel a lesson with fewer than 24 hours' notice for a non-emergency reason, I owe that student a free lesson of the same length, delivered by adding the time onto their next lesson or two, just as students pay for lessons they cancel late.

I understand that students schedule their own lessons with the Tunelark tools they pay for, and that my connected Google Calendar and teaching windows keep those tools showing my true availability. Beyond helping a student queue up their next lesson or lesson series at the end of a lesson, I am not my students' scheduler: when I take over scheduling, I remove a convenience my students pay for and create a bottleneck that shouldn't exist at Tunelark.

I understand that Tunelark invests significantly to place each new student with me, and that I'm expected to build a real relationship with every student referred to me: a warm, prepared welcome at the trial lesson, and continued contact afterward, including with students who stop booking. I am never expected to pressure a former student to rebook, but I am expected to never treat a lapsed student like a stranger.

I understand that my Sustainability Score, shown on my Insights page, reflects how well my students stay with me, and that it directly shapes the flow of new students Tunelark sends me, including eligibility for Find-a-Teacher promotion.

I understand that Tunelark does not promise any volume of new students. Students choose their own teacher, and demand varies by instrument, season, and the strength of my profile.

I understand that Tunelark provides self-help tools, including the Instructor Handbook, the instructor training courses, and my dashboard settings, as the primary way to navigate our systems and policies, and that human customer support is a fallback rather than the first stop.

I understand that time off from my Tunelark studio must be planned and communicated per the handbook: I should be available to teach my Tunelark students at least 46 weeks per year, avoid more than three consecutive weeks away from any student's regular lessons without submitting a time away request, book my students' returning lessons before I leave, and never no-show or disappear on my students or Tunelark.

I understand that the 24-hour cancellation policy protects both my income and Tunelark's, because Tunelark incurs real costs on every booked lesson whether or not it takes place. When a student cancels or reschedules late, the lesson fee stands unless the student had a genuine emergency, and I am responsible for determining whether it was one. The handbook allows one non-emergency exception per student per year, when I reasonably believe not granting it would cost me the student. I will not run my own side policy, such as waiving fees whenever a student reschedules: even when I'm willing to give up my own pay, a late change has already cost Tunelark billing work and expense.

I understand that all Tunelark-referred students remain Tunelark students: I may not teach them outside of Tunelark or make any payment arrangement outside of Tunelark for any work with a Tunelark-referred student. If a student asks me to teach them off the platform, I am required to report the request by completing the Student Disintermediation Report on the Teacher Forms page. Reporting a request is what Tunelark expects of me and carries no penalty. Actually teaching a Tunelark-referred student off the platform, or arranging payment outside of Tunelark, is what results in immediate dismissal from Tunelark and legal action under the Instructor Agreement. Students I bring to Tunelark myself are excluded: they may move off the platform whenever the student and I see fit.

I have re-read the Instructor Handbook in full, and I agree to run my Tunelark studio by it.
